Council President James Dostal Proposes Northampton Council for Keno-to Go Game

On August 19th, 2008, a representative from the state Lottery Commission will meet with the Northampton City Council on Thursday at the request from the council president who is petitioning councilors to reconsider giving permission to city merchants to have a brand new lottery game. The session is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. in City Council Chambers in the Walter Puchalski Municipal Building.

Council President James M. Dostal said that he wants councilors to get more information about the Keno-to-Game, which was debut by the state Lottery Commission in March. The council rejected the Keno-to-Go game in April 2008 in a 6-3 vote, with Dostal one of those giving its approval to the game. Allowing twenty-four businesses in the city that would be able to offer the Keno-to-Go game will help them cope up during hard times.

Dostal believes that the councilors are not well informed about the Keno-to-Go game when they previously voted. Dostal said that the city of Northampton does not turn its back on money from the lottery. The $4 million coming from the lottery helps the city fulfill its obligations.

The director of communications for the Lottery, Daniel L. Rosenfeld commented that the Keno-to-Go is a game that allows retailers to sell keno type tickets. Those players who purchased a ticket can check the results on the web. 3,600 stores are already selling the tickets all over the state.
