Douglas County Winnings Reaches $455,000

On February 3rd, 2008, the residents of Douglas County won $459,034 in total winnings in Oregon Lottery for the cash prizes of $600 or more. Joseph Lehning from Roseburg was the biggest lottery winner of the county. He won a total of $43,032 in total prizes.

Linda Bettencourt, also from Roseburg, won a total of $36,000 from the game of Keno while Douglas Hughes from Myrtle Creek won a total of $30,245. The biggest keno game ticket that was cashed in came from a Douglas County resident named Nancy Peters from Roseburg who have won $25,000. Other substantial winners were Jerry Britt from Roseburg with $20,000, Lois McMullin from Yoncalla with $12,000, Ray Bellinger from Drain with $10,000 and Mary Winston from Sutherlin with $10,000.

All in all, about 150 residents from Douglas County won prizes with a total of $600 or more. Of these total, about ninety-four won money prizes by residents are about $1,000 or more. All over the state, $390 million in keno prizes were awarded during the year 2007. Since the start of the Oregon Lottery back in April 1985, more than $13 billion in total cash prizes has been awarded to residents.

During the same period, the state has earned a total of more than $5 billion. Revenues have been utilized for the development and improvement of the economy, education and the environment.
