On March 1st, 2009, Nova Scotia's acting finance minister states that the province will debut disputed electronic gambling games in restaurants and bars in the province on Monday as originally planned. Chris d'Entremont, who only assumed responsibility for the electronic games this week, states that Nova Scotia is obligated to follow the contract by installing electronic keno games at 180 locations around the province.
The minister stated that Nova Scotia plans to review the program to see what effect it has on gaming within a period of six months and has the capability to stop the games within a year if necessary. NDP critic Graham Steele states that he does not believe the reasoning that the government does not have a choice to block the debut of the electronic keno game.
