Jim Dancy of Richland, Kalamazoo, Michigan decided to donate a total of $10,000 of his keno winnings to non-profit organization Greater Kalamazoo United Way on April 23rd, 2009. Dancy said that he firmly believes that other people needed the money more than him.
Dancy said in his statement released by the state lottery said that he was inspired by his friend Julie, to think of other people first and stop believing that life only revolves around you. He knows that the situation in the community is not that great because of the financial crisis, so for him it is just the appropriate and humane thing to do.
Jim Dancy is the Vice President, COO and Co-founder of Innovative Analysis, a biological research organization based in Kalamazoo. He said that he felt good about his choice and was confident that he had picked the right organization. Dancy said that he felt really about it and considers it as the best decision he ever made. The head of Greater Kalamazoo United Way, Mike Larson said that he is very thankful about Dancy's gesture and it will really help their organization in these difficult and uncertain times.
