A resident of Hermidale who works in a freight company and makes deliveries from Dubbo to Cobbar is the very lucky winner of the Powerball second division prize worth $68, 204 on July 16th, 2009. The lucky winner, who asked not to be identified, stated that he used some spare change to buy a Powerball ticket at the Barton Street news agency during one of his deliveries to Cobar last week.
When checking his ticket at the news agency on July 20th, 2009, he was astonished to discover that he had won a major cash prize. He said that when they had place the ticket into the machine it shut down and he immediately knew that he had won a prize but did not realize immediately how large it was.
The lucky winner added that although he usually buy tickets for the Saturday lottery, he have not won anything for almost 2 years now and he was very happy when he had learned that he won more than $68,000. He plans to buy a new car for himself and his daughter.
He added that he plans to invest the rest of the money. But the Hermidale resident's Powerball win was overshadowed by the massive Keno win of Bourke chef Wee Fah Wong worth $397,418. The proprietor of Jandra Chinese Restaurant dream came true when he used $20 in small change from market shopping to buy keno tickets at Bourke's bowling club.
When club employees informed Mr. Wee Fah that he may have won the keno jackpot, he did not believe the employees at first and it took a lot of convincing. Wee Fah Wong plans to buy a big house for his family in Malaysia and pay off is own residence in Bourke with his winnings.
