On April 20th, 2008, sixty-year old machinist William A. Weskosky from the East Forest Park in Springfield, wins a small cash pot from card in his pitch tournaments. The owner of Murphy's Pot Stop located on Island Pond Road commended William A. Weskosky and said to him that he is on a good streak. That only shows that the gaming scene in Springfield. The game of keno and other lottery type games run by the state, producing around $4.5 billion in total sales and $892 million for cities and towns.
The keno games are second to the Department of Revenue in producing money for the state of Massachusetts. While the state legislature blocked the casino proposal of Gov. Deval Patrick on March 20th, 2008, the state was finalizing their plan to expand games like keno and other new instant games for the public, while trying to meet a 15% growth placed min the budget by Governor Romney last year.
