Keno Starts on August 4th, 2008 in Ohio

On August 3rd, 2008, it was announced that keno will first be offered at around 6:00 a.m. and 11:04 a.m. on Monday on around 750 bars and business establishments on the state. The latter time is when the 4 minutes drawings for the game will start. A lot of people are hoping that the game of keno will be the main source of funds for the schools in the state, which need $73 million a year and to help fix the budget deficit that the state is currently facing.

Critics of the game said that keno is not a good development for Ohio because it only presents dangers to residents. But those criticisms have fallen silent as the Ohio Lottery installs wiring and keno machines in bars, restaurants, racing tracks, bowling alley and other businesses in Ohio.

Ohio Lottery spokesperson Marie Kilbane said that officials of the Ohio Lottery hoped that around 1,000 businesses will be ready for the launch but fewer than eight hundred businesses are ready for the launch. But she said that they are hoping that other businesses will be ready in the next few days.

Jacob Evans, the spokesperson for the Ohio Licensed Beverage Association said that Bars, which will compose the majority of keno vendors in Ohio are happy with the Lottery's handling of the game so far. He added that their members are pumped up with the launch of keno and are hopeful that the game will help them attract more customers.
