Lincoln County, Nebraska, Keno Revenues 2.5% Higher Then Expected

Mary Ann Long, treasurer of Lincoln County released a property valuation report on August 17 showing a new growth for the Lincoln County. From 2005 Lincoln County increased a total of 42 percent this year, equivalent to $14.6 million. Compared in 2005 with $34.5 million growth value in total, 2006 marked a new growth of $49.2 million.

Keno revenue also came in 2.5 percent over estimates. "We had one of the best keno years ever," City Clerk/Treasurer Bill May said. It gave an advantage to the Iron Eagle Golf course, which decreases its reliance on property taxes. "It will help subsidize the golf course," May said.

For North Platte City, property valuations recorded an increase totaling to $1 billion this year, equivalent to 11.5 percent increase from $932 million last year.

On August 21 the North Platte City council will have a special session to discuss about the levy it will assess property owners based on the figures from the property valuations reports.

The Valuations increase will reduce the amount the city must levy to take the total property tax request in this years budget. City Mayor G. Keith Richardson hopes to reduce the cents per $100 levy two cents, from 47.4282 cents per $100 to 45 cents.

City Administrator Jim Hawks said that the revenue for the city is expected to increase in 2006-07.
