On March 1st, 2009, keno is a game of luck that lottery officials will be a successful money maker for Ohio. Marcus Thorpe stated that the game is bringing the lottery to a whole new level and lottery officials are ready to take keno to the next level. Although the numbers are not adding up for the game in the state of Ohio and it has not been an immense success, lottery officials said that because it is making money, keno can still be considered a moderate success.
Keno player Debbie Bashaw said that it is really exciting to watch the numbers come up because you do not know if you will or not. When the game was first introduced to Roosters on Olentangy River Road, not everyone was enthusiastic about the game. Samantha Beaty, the assistant manager of Roosters said that they were not sure about the profitability of the game and they had to go through training classes to learn about the game. But keno has caught on and paid off for some players. Beaty said that some of their players won $850 at their store and $10,000 at another store.
Roosters restaurants in the area are collaborating with Ohio lottery officials to feature keno parties from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. For many players, the keno parties are a chance to learn the game. Beaty said that have a lot of people saying how keno works and which wagers to make? She added that their employees are getting more comfortable with managing the game. Beaty said that for those players that learned the ins and outs of the game, they will have an opportunity to play and win cash prizes.
