Michigan Lottery Officials Adds Progressive Jackpot to Club Keno Game

On May 29th, 2009, lottery officials are adding a brand new feature to their widely popular and successful Club keno game-a progressive jackpot that grows every 4 minutes. "The Jack" begins on Monday, June 1st 2009 and will permit players to shell out an additional one dollar to check a box on the wagering slip that will place a computer-generated, 7 digit numbers to Club Keno numbers the player is betting.

The brand new keno feature will possess a jackpot that begins at $2,000, which is separate from the winning amount for the standard keno drawing. If no player matches all the 7 digits, the jackpot will grow by $100 or more depending on the number of players, because sixty percent of the cash amount on "The Jack" will be added to its cash pot. Officials of the lottery expect the winning amount could reach $20,000 or more everyday.

Lottery Commissioner M. Scott Bowen said that the feature should improve the sales of Club Keno, which were $526 million last year, about 22% of the overall lottery sales. The payouts of Club Keno were $340.6 million. Bowen said that Club Keno has been a widely popular for the Michigan Lottery and "The Jack" will be a good addition to it. He added that players will be able to see the jackpot improve every 4 minutes until it is won by someone.

Players can still bet on one to ten digits in the standard Club Keno game, which has a field of eighty numbers. Players will be able to keep an eye of the size of the new jackpot on closed-circuit Club Keno Television monitors in 2,500 bars and restaurants all over the state. There are three hundred drawings everyday.
