Tennant Creek Woman Wins $2 Million Dollars in Keno Game

On May 11th, 2009, a mother from Tennant Creek won more than $2 million on Sunday night from just a $1 dollar game of keno. Rumors have run wild over the small town of 3,500 people as residents tried to discover the identity of the anonymous Mother's Day keno winner.

Memorial Club manager Cynthia Thomas refused to divulge the identity of the Tennant Creek's newest keno millionaire. She said that the player has asked to remain unknown and she said that all that they can say is that it is good news and they are very happy. Kaylene Kenny and her husband Darryle Rider were at the club enjoying the poker machine when the keno jackpot went off. Kenny said that they were all asking who it was but the club officials would not tell. Kenny added that all she knows that the winner was there and they presented the game ticket and this win could really place Tennant Creek on the keno map.

Ryder said that the identity of the winner is one of the hottest topics in their town right now. Ryder added that as soon as the announcement came up on the monitor, everyone started asking each other if they are the winner. SkyCity Darwin confirmed that a $2,044,407 keno jackpot was won at Tennant Creek on a ten-spot quick pick. The woman played 9 games of keno and her chosen numbers came up on the last keno game on the ticket. It was the Territory's 2nd biggest keno win.
