Keno, a popular video numbers game in bars and restaurants across the country, is coming to a pair of convenience stores in Whitman, Massachusetts.
The Board of Selectmen voted three-zero (Margaret McGillivray was absent) on May 12th, 2010 in favor of Tedeschi's on #643 Washington St. and the Little Comfort General Store located on 50 Washington St. to receive TV monitors to show the results of the State Lottery's Keno To Go game.
Aside from the keno issue for Tedeschi's and Little Comfort General Store, the Selectmen also discussed the ongoing construction of the new police station in the area. The ground for the facility was broken on May 5th, 2010 on the location for the former Holt School. Town officials said that the Town Hall and the fire station are up for renovation after the police station.
Town administrator Frank Lynam said that the contractor for the project, the Commercial Construction Company will utilize the Town Hall's West Side as a staging location for their construction equipment. The Selectmen will decide on the Porter's Cafe and Irresistible Treats license on their next meeting.
They will also be reviewing the request of Recreation Director Michelle Winnett to hire two additional employees, who are related to Winnett and Recreation Commission member Sheila Sherlock.
